About the STIC Program:

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and implemented by Arizona State University, the U.S.-ASEAN Science, Technology, and Innovation Cooperation (STIC) Program aims to strengthen science, technology and innovation cooperation between the U.S. and the ASEAN member states. STIC focuses on three major activities:

STI Policy Study Tour Washington D.C.

A 1-week study tour in Washington, D.C. for rising leaders in careers related to STI policymaking and regulations from the 10 ASEAN member states. The focus of this study tour is to promote collective STI ecosystems, including policy advising, drawing investment, enhancing university and research institutes’ impact, incubating start-ups, and reskilling the workforce. Participants will actively engage in technical workshops delivered by academic, government, and industry experts. These will be presented as case studies for government leaders to understand the technology and use cases for applications in their contexts.

STIC Virtual Talent Mobility Portal

The US-ASEAN STIC Virtual Talent Mobility Portal includes a vast portfolio of online courses developed by several American Universities and industry-recognized credentials.

The content presented via the STIC Portal is aligned with the six technical areas and all cross-cutting themes in APASTI 2016-2025.

The portal also includes an Online Business Venture Incubator to identify and select innovative science and technology-based startups. The Incubator program will prepare participants for the pitch competition during the STI Regional Conference.

STIC Regional Conference

Each year, the program hosts a 2-day regional conference with a research track and venture creation track.

The annual conference includes keynote speakers and panel discussions with international subject matter experts, networking opportunities, roundtable discussions, collective projects, and advanced skill-building workshops.

The conference also hosts a research seed grant competition and a business venture creation pitch competition. Annually, $100,000 is awarded to 4 research projects and 4 business ventures through a competitive process.
